Course Module Breakdown

Module 1 - What Is Pain?

In this first module, we get to the bottom of what pain is, start unlocking your movement patterns, and set in motion the mindset shifts necessary for healing. Here you will learn how to listen to your pain setting the foundation for healing.

Module 2 - Harnessing Your Innate Power Of Change.

Neuroplasticity is a superpower that you have whether you realize it or not. In this module, you learn how to harness this innate power to embrace the habits you want and let go of the habits you don’t.

Module 3 - Learning To Regulate Stress.

Stress is unavoidable, but how you respond to it is a huge part of helping your pain. Your stress response is not a bad thing if you know what it is and how to use it.

Module 4 - Deloading

One of the biggest moments of this program is learning to embody the idea that ‘less is more’. This module allows you to take a little breather, catch up, and review before diving into the strength lessons in the next module.

Module 5 - Introduction To Strength Training

In this module, we’re dipping your toes in the world of strength training with your first set of strength lessons and workout. Here, you’ll be learning how to approach strength training to get maximal benefits while staying safe and building off of your movement lessons.

Module 6 - Unlocking Your Posture

Posture is a hot topic. Everyone has their own ideas about what “good” posture should look like. In this module, we’ll break those old ideas of posture, and equip you with a powerful new posture mindset.

Module 7 - Learning To Squat

Squatting is a fundamental human movement, but so many of us are out of touch with it. In this module, you’ll get in touch with your inner ape and learn to squat in a more efficient way.

Module 8 - Finishing Strong

You’ve made life-changing transformations, and in this last module, you’re finishing strong by capping it all off with completing your strength training series.

 Program Price: $3,000 USD

FAQs

Why Is This Program So Expensive?

While there might be a moment of sticker shock seeing the full price of the program, breakdown the price of the various features of the program and you will see that it is reasonably priced. If you were to hire a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner for 10 private sessions, take 3 Awareness Through Movement classes per week for 2 months, work with a personal trainer for 6 sessions, and buy your own set of quality kettlebells, then you will find this all adds up rather quickly. And this does not include having full access to support from a multi-certificated movement professional who also has expertise as a professional musician, as well as on-demand online access to coursework.

That being said, I realize that this is a lot of money in one payment. The Perform Without Pain Online Academy is an investment. Chances are high that when it comes to your instrument, you wouldn’t hesitate to invest this amount of money. But when it comes to spending money on yourself, I venture a guess that you almost always hesitate. Joining this the Online Academy is the first step in a highly transformative process of learning to value yourself more. The reason for the application process is so that I can make sure that I feel that I will be able to help you and that we are a good fit to work together. I do not accept money from people I do not feel confident that I can help. I want to ensure that you are investing your money in an experience that will be beneficial for you and meets your expectations. This is why I also take very few clients at one time. I want everyone I work with to feel empowered and encouraged. If I’m balancing supporting too many people at once, then I’m not really supporting anyone, including myself.

If you’re still in doubt about the price, I challenge you to calculate ALL the ways you are already paying for your pain and what the cost of your inaction is. How does your pain affect your work, relationships, and the entirety of your life?

I’m always happy to work with students to find a payment plan that works for all involved. I do also offer access to just the online course at a Pay-What-You-Can rate of your choice (capped at $1,000USD). However, I don’t recommend this. For many people, having access to more information is not necessarily that helpful. Chances are you have a ton of information already that you don’t know what to do with. The bread and butter of this program is the coaching. Information isn’t very valuable unless you have guidance and support. Nevertheless, this option is available for those who feel confident in their ability to assimilate the information on their own.

Do You Offer Refunds?

Full refunds (minus $250 admin fee) are offered within the first 3 days of signing up. After that period, there are no refunds.

What Are The Private Coaching Calls Like?

With the Premier Program, you receive 10 private one-hour coaching calls. These are scheduled by you at your convenience and are to be used during your 10-weeks of support. It is recommended that you schedule one call per week in the program, but this is not required. Any calls not used during the 10-weeks are forfeited unless prior arrangements have been made with me.

In these sessions, we generally spend the first half of the call talking about how things are going for you, any questions you have, any obstacles that may be blocking you from progressing, and celebrating all successes no matter how small. The last half of the call is a personalized movement lesson customized to what you need and what you are interested in.

Where Can I Do This Program?

A huge benefit to the Premier Program being online is that you can do it anywhere you have internet access.

The movement lessons require that you have space large enough to lie long on the floor. The strength movements in the program are very effective without weight if you find yourself in a situation where you don’t have access to your kettlebells.

When Can I Do This Program?

The Premier Program is open, rolling enrollment, meaning that if there is space, you can enroll at anytime. A max of 5 participants are accepted at one time.

You can reserve space by placing a deposit and scheduling a start date.

Why 10 Weeks Of Support And Only 8 Modules?

This is an intense program, but I understand full well that you can’t put life on hold. Things are going to happen that will distract you from the Program. An extra 2 weeks of support is provided because it’s possible that you might get behind in online modules. I want you to know that this is not just okay, it’s expected. It’s also a great opportunity to practice the mindset shifts you’re learning in the Program.

What’s The Time Commitment?

As with anything, you get out what you put in, but something you will learn in the program is that this doesn’t necessarily mean the more time the better. You can do as little or as much of the various components of the program as you like, and you will find that some components are more beneficial for you than others. I recommend an hour per day to commit to the program, but everyone is different and I encourage you to embrace listening to yourself and doing as much as makes you feel good.

Can I Keep Playing While In The Program?

This depends completely on you and your pain. I don’t encourage people to play through pain even if that means having to forgo some gigs. However, I do think it’s helpful to play a little bit through the program to see how your movement, mindset, and strength are improving, but it’s not necessary.

I’m Concerned About The Strength Training

I totally understand. Many musicians are concerned about hurting themselves, especially their hands. And for that reason, they normally avoid strength training. This program is different. This program’s strength training intensity is far less than other types of programs because:

  1. I understand just how important your hands are to your work.

  2. Intensity is not necessary when you’re first starting out.

  3. Our focus is on building sustainable habits.

  4. Feeling safe is an important part of healing your pain. The last thing we want to do is put that feeling of safety you’ve been cultivating in the first modules in jeopardy.

You ALWAYS have the option to do the strength training movements without weight. It’s totally possible to improve your pain without ever picking up a weight.

I’m Not A Musician. Can I Still Do This Program?

Yes! I have many non-musicians go through this program with much success. As one example, I had a forest firefighter in the program. We focused on the demands of her job in place of an instrument. She learned more about how to efficiently move wearing a rucksack, swing an ax, etc.

The beauty of the format of this program is that it is highly customizable to your life and your pursuits. I’m here to help you do what interests you better, with less pain, and more enjoyment.

Will This Program Help Injuries From My Specific Instrument?

Without even knowing your instrument, I can tell you definitively, “yes!” The Online Academy is instrument agnostic, meaning that it’s not set up to address any particular instrument. This is for a very good and important reason: you don’t need more of the movement patterns specific to your instrument, you need more generalized movement patterns. Creating better general movement and then strengthening it is the primary focus of this program. This is by far the best way to address chronic repetitive stress injuries and pain.
